Seth Twumasi was 11 years old when he moved from Ghana to England to join his parents for a better life in 2001. After a year in England he was spotted playing for his local Sunday league team and was  invited for trials by a scout of Chelsea football club. Seth was given a contract after two weeks and began his career at Chelsea football club captaining their youth team up to reserve team level over the course of 8 years and also representing England at U16 - U20s a long the way before leaving for a new challenge playing for the likes of Peterborough United, Northampton Town, Yeovil Town among some of his professional clubs.

Seth returned back to Ghana for the first time doing charity work with Chelsea Football Club, coaching underprivileged teenagers in schools and was fascinated with the amount of talented teenagers with limited resources. This aspired him to want to create a platform to educate and develop talented athletes and provide opportunities in Africa that he was given in England.

In 2018, Twumasi established Phoenix Academy to identify and nurture talented youth and the next generation of leaders on and off the field enabling the teenagers a brighter future. 2018 also saw the first Phoenix Academy player gain a scholarship in the United States, the relationship with this academic institute continues to this date. The blueprint of the academy has now spread across many academic institutes within US and Europe.
