Phoenix academy started in 2018 as non-residential football team in Accra where the local teenagers would travel from home to train and play matches.

After just two months in May 2018, the academy founder saw the positive impact the academy was having on the teenagers living in the local area and the community so transitioned the academy to a residential academy.  The first rental property the academy attained, could only house 18 teenagers so in 2020 it moved properties to its current location to enable the academy to house and support 30 teenagers, nearly doubling in its size.

In 2022 the academy acquired a small piece of land situated in Accra in a district called Kasoa, the aim is to build adequate accommodation and a football pitch to continue the development of the players.
